Prevention & Treatment - Conclusion |
It
is our opinion in our center that osteoporosis is occurring in epidemic
proportions and much of the medical community is not going after
diagnosis or treatment aggressively enough. In women it is responsible
for more deaths then ovarian, uterine and breast cancer combined.
In men we see a tremendous amount of osteoporosis following treatment
of prostate cancer. We have highly effective methods for the diagnosis,
prevention and treatment of osteoporosis at this current time. In
our center we strive for early evaluation of BMD and appropriate
intervention to prevent future fracture. We try to implement a comprehensive
plan including preventive measures functional exercise programs,
lifestyle changes nutritional supplements, hormonal therapies along
with bone resorptive medication. Patients are followed closely using
urine NTX as described above.
